LG has a very nice OLED TV at CES 2011 in Las Vegas. It’s a 31″ model with 1920×1080 full HD. LG has stated that they plan to release a 31″ OLED TV this year so let’s keep our fingers crossed that this will be the model released to the public.

Here’s a video that shows how thin the latest LG OLED TV is along with some other fancy toys from LG.

  1. I’ll believe it when I see it – I don’t think OLEDs will ever become available for consumers, we’ll be using LCD and plasma for the rest of my life.

  2. I disagree with you Paul. Didn’t you just watch the video?
I don’t think you’ll be able to buy an LCD or Plasma screen at any price in 5 years. Yes, OLED is super expensive right now, but so was every piece of new tech since the wireless was invented.

Even more significantly OLED will become even cheaper than LCD is now because it doesn’t need the rigid framework to protect the glass screen. It doesn’t consume as much power and hence it doesn’t need extensive cooling components.

Perhaps, sadly you may not live to see the demise of LCD and Plasma. I don’t know your remaining life expectancy.
